We’ve been talking for a long time about how important it is to integrate online and offline to ensure the maximum leverage for any business.

Today at LemonHQ we crystallised those thoughts a little more. Business owners come to us for SEO (among many other things), but the reality of what we offer is that it’s no longer about optimising for search engine rank (although that is a positive side effect) – it’s far more about digitally enhancing the work you do every day in your business or organisation.

Like ‘business to the power of digital’. Some clients struggle to understand why we want to know more about their businesses, their vision and objectives. That’s the reason why.

PerhapsĀ  the easiest way to explain this is using the retail store model. Business owners have known and understood the process of setting up physical stores for centuries, but with the advent of web, how many really transfer what they know about looking after retail customers to their online presence?

For example, a slow loading website with a hard to use interface is the digital equivalent of letting your customer stand around waiting for service in your shop for 20 minutes.

Carrying the analogy further, shop windows, signage and displays are rearranged on a regular basis to entice, engage and motivate customers to come into the store and hopefully to purchase.

How often do you rearrange your online shop window (homepage), signage (advertising and onsite calls to action) and displays (landing pages, product pages)?

Do you know which changes work for you and which don’t? (Analytics, conversion tracking, customer feedback).

Walking in the shoes of your customers and clients then becomes a vital part of the equation – not only for you and your employees, but also for us as your digital agency.

Finding ways of bringing the online into your offline business environment is also part of the picture, and can be delivered now by a range of technologies that can help you connect in more exciting ways with the people that matter – your customers.
