MED

The Ministry of Economic Development (MED) is the branch of the New Zealand government that provides resources and support to New Zealand businesses, with the ultimate objective of developing a diverse and dynamic national economy.

Innovation is a major component to any healthy economy, and MED want to set a good example by leading the pack in out-of-the-box thinking. This includes streamlining processes and making important information easily accessible. The MED asked hairyLemon to develop creative, ground-breaking mobile applications that would help local businesspeople take care of details and actually get down to business.

The end result? A custom built Facebook application that allows users to access the New Zealand Companies Register and gain information on registered company names, shareholders, directors and related documents in seconds.

And the innovation doesn't stop there. Several more apps are in development to further streamline the processes involved in doing business in New Zealand.
