A lot is happening in the smartphone / tablet world at the moment. Google, Microsoft and Apple are all working on new operating systems specifically for these devices.
Apple has just released the iPhone 4S which is running iOS version 5. Microsoft are working on Windows 8 which will run on tablets and smart phones and well as desktops (you will be able to switch to the traditional interface if using the operating system on a desktop).
And Google will be releasing Android 4 or “Ice cream sandwich” in the next couple of months which will run on tablets and smart phones. This means all the features of Honeycomb for tablets will also be available for smartphones.
A couple of exciting new features in Ice Cream Sandwich are its 3D interface and eye tracking capabilities that allow easy scrolling of maps for example. A demonstration of these features can be seen in the following video clip:
